It's a Jeep thing...
you wouldn't understand

My family and I just recently attended our first "Jeep Jamboree". You might be wondering what a "Jeep Jamboree" is. Well, it’s the coolest thing to do if you are a Jeep owner. Jeep Jamboree USA designs trails and takes groups of people out on them for some serious off roading in their Jeeps. Anyone who owns a Jeep can sign up to be a part of one of the many nation wide Jeep Jamborees.

I really didn’t think I was going to enjoy this whole event as much as I did. I thought it was going to be a lot of guys standing around talking about who’s got the best Jeep and who has been stuck in the deepest mud. It was actually quite different. All kinds of people were there (from Doctors to more common folk) and they were at all levels of off roading experience. (I was very pleased to find out that my family was not the only "newbie" group there)

The Jeep Jamboree I attended was held at Fort Riley, Kansas (near Junction City). There were four different Jeep trails to go on. We went on two trails per day. Each trail was about the same difficulty level, but they were each totally different types of terrain. There were also bigger optional obstacles for the Jeeps the could handle it. They were quite a challenge to our little blue '97 Jeep Wrangler. Anyway, the pictures you see on this page were mainly taken by me.

Here is a shot of one of the Jeeps in our group traversing a designated water crossing. Of course, the pictures can't even begin to give you the feeling of what going through this was really like.

This is a shot of the same Jeep topping a slope on a steeper section of a 4WD trail. It was cool!!

This was one of the optional parts of a trail. The rocks and irregular trail surface made this section more fun and challenging. It was cool to watch.

This is another shot of a Jeep making the climb up the same section.

I had lots of fun! My family is already signing up for a few other Jeep Jamborees later on in the year. I can’t wait for them to start!
