Dear Ms. Smith:
![]() Me and my TJ at a "pit stop" on Friday's Big Wheel Gap Trail. |
Why didn't you warn me that a Jeep Jamboree would be hazardous to my health?! I just attended Cumberland Falls and let me tell you, I've got problems!!
I can't concentrate on my job...all I do is gaze out the window and wish I were on the trail! Sometimes I figure out how best to use my vacation time in order to hit as many Jamborees as possible, but most of the time I'm daydreaming about mud holes and steep rocky grades. The scenery on the trails was incredible - lush forests, breathtaking vistas of the countryside...the natural beauty alone would have been worth the trip. Thanks to everyone's cooperation with the "Tread Lightly" principles, it remained as clean as we found it.
My friends all hate me...first, for not taking all of them with me and second, for refusing to shut up about how much fun I had. When I bring out my photo album and start reminiscing about this mudhole or that hill climb, how friendly the staff and guides were, the great breakfast buffet and the bluegrass band at Saturday night's cookout, the camaraderie among all the Jeep owners, etc., they all try to change the subject. I think they're just jealous-I tell them "Get a Jeep!" and run!!

My checking account will be hurting, too, after I customize my Jeep. I've got a '97 TJ, a red 4.0L Sport with the 30" tire package and the heavy-duty suspension. it was more than capable of handling the terrain - but there were some Jeeps there with lifts and swampers and air lockers that looked Like they were having even more fun than I was. (Hard to imagine, though!) So, before my next Jamboree, I'm planning on getting a 2-1/2" lift and bigger tires/wheels...and that's just to start.
Last, but certainly not least, my Jeep is complaining. (Yes, I talk to my baby but at least I haven't given her a name. I'm sad, but not that sad I) I tell her, "Sorry, girl, but we just can't give you a workout as often as you'd like. I know this city driving is boring and not what you're really made to do, but bear with me. I don't like it any more than you do! We'll do more Jamborees, I promise! Anyway, look at all the heads you're turning. You're still something, even if you're not in your preferred environment!"
Yep, I'm a goner. If I had known what problems that Jamboree would bring upon me...l'd have done it anyway, and sooner! I can't say enough about it. It was the most fun I've ever had and I can't wait for next year!
With warmest thanks for your great program.
